Scooter’s 1823rd bar, first visited in 2024.
While we were at the winery my wife asked one of the servers, “If we wanted to go to a dive bar, what’s the best dirtiest grittiest dive bar we could possibly pick?”
“RON’S!” was her immediate reply.
I looked it up and once I found it on the map I realized we’d driven by it several times and I’d wondered about it. But it didn’t until for a couple of hours so we walked around one of the beaches to kill some time.
We arrived right at 4:00 and found it locked — we’d beat the bartender. But knowing this is a true dive we decided to wait and were soon rewarded for our patience.
The bartender was really cool and friendly and gave us all kinds of great into both about the bar and about the area.
We had several rounds of shots and I had a Blood Orange Honey (honey wheat beer) by Cheboygan Brewing Company.
