(North Kansas City, MO)
Scooter’s 43rd bar, first visited in 2006.
Pat’s Pub is my favorite of the bars on the Swift Avenue dive bar row. It and River City Tavern are at the southern end of the strip, fairly isolated from the busier bars a few blocks north.
Beer on tap is very cheap. There is also food here, but I haven’t tried it yet and don’t know what all they serve.
In addition to the bar and dining area there is a new patio out back, and lately the bar has been hosting live music on Friday nights. (So far with no cover.)
This is a very laid back place, and I enjoy dropping in from time to time on my way home from the bowling alley.
My only complaint is with the hours. It is only open during the day on Saturday (unless they are hosting a special event), which is understandable given its location. But except for Friday nights the closing times are inconsistent. Sometimes I can stop in after bowling on Tuesday night, but most weeks it’s already closed by the time I get over there at 9:00. Consistent hours could do a lot to help increase evening business.
On the other hand, maybe Pat just wants to be able to go to sleep.
